比賽第三節進行至4分29秒，遛馬的Evans持球殺向籃下，並抬腿用膝蓋頂到Williams，Williams隨後倒地，這時Evans和隊友Thaddeus Young積極爭搶籃板，Young拿到球後想繼續進攻，結果跨過地上的Williams的時候，不慎用左腳踢到了Williams，Williams非常痛苦，一度趴在在地上2分多鐘，隨後在攙扶下返回更衣室。

隨後有記者報導稱，Williams的臉部出現了挫傷，而且他的鼻子也流了血。
